Butterscotch sauce

When I was little, when my family and I went to Bridgeman's to get tulip sundaes, the three of them got hot fudge, and I always ordered butterscotch. There's something magical when butterscotch sauce hits ice-cream. This recipe is amazing, and is extra awesome when used for Turtle Sundaes.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups brown sugar packed
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/3 cups light corn syrup
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. In dutch oven, heat all ingredients over high heat (except vanilla) to boiling.

  2. Reduce heat to low, and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

  3. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.

  4. Cool and pour into jars.
