Pickled Herring
Ingredients
- 5 good size fish
- salt brine (strong enough to float an egg)
- 4 cups vinegar
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup Silver Satin wine
- 1/2 cup Schilling pickling spice
- onions sliced
Instructions

Clean fish and cut into pieces.

Put in brine for 36 hours.

Wash fish and place in fresh water for 7 hours.

Put pieces in glass jars.

Heat vinegar and sugar til sugar dissolves, cool.

Add wine, pickling spice and onions.

Pour mixture over fish.

Store in fridge. Ready to eat in about 5 days
