Behind the scenes bites, family stories, and recipes in progress
“Yes, We Ate Turtle” was the first “blog to book” adventure, and is available on Amazon in ebook, paperback and hardcover.
It is the collaborative work of aunts, uncles, and cousins, who each spent time at the little Bednarz farmhouse, smoking fish, making wine out of dandelions, and having country fun in Browerville, Minnesota.
We started working on the book a couple decades ago, and the original was published in 2012. After some recipe testing, reformatting, and family feedback, the second edition was released in 2024.
This is my first cookbook in the heritage series and several recipes from this blog made it to the final cut of the publication.
“The Barker Bites” is my second book published and is a memoir-style cookbook dedicated to my Grandma Barker and my memories of her and our family while growing up in suburban Minneapolis.
In this book, I travel through the seasons and holidays, sharing memories and recipes that made growing up in 1970’s special. The book is filled with pictures and entries from the book my grandmother left me when she passed away from cancer 40 years ago.
I wrote this for my grandchildren so her memory wouldn’t be forgotten.
This is another “blog to book” adventure, with many of the recipes and stories I used in the final book.
It’s available on Amazon in ebook, hardcover and paperback.
The current “blog to book” project is one my mom, daughters, and grandkids and I are working on together. I’m pretty excited about this one!
I started this book a LONG time ago, and Jaime has the original 3 ring binder I typed out over twenty years ago, complete with batter stains, and wrinkled pages.
I have an “author’s copy” from fifteen or so years ago that I was proofreading before I came up with the idea of doing a Bednarz and Barker book. So, the “Generations” book got put on hold.
Now there’s lots of grandkids now to help out and I can’t wait to see their creations.
We’re not sure what the final name will be. Have any cool ideas?
