Ingredients
2cupsflour
1/2tspsalt
3tspbaking powder
1/4cupshortening
3/4cupmilk
Instructions
Add salt and baking powder to flour and sift several times.
Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until thoroughly mixed.
Stir in milk to make a soft dough and work lightly on floured board.
Roll to 3/4 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
Brush with soft butter and bake in a 425ยบ oven for 12-15 minutes. Makes 18 biscuits.
(This recipe can be used to make drop biscuits, just add 2 extra Tbsp milk. Stir dough as little as possible and drop by spoonfuls on a greased baking sheet.)
