Chowmein Hotdish

This recipe is from my Grandma Barker, and is a classic "Minnesota Hot Dish." I loved the way her house smelled when this was baking in the oven. It tasted even better!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef browned
  • 2 cups onion chopped
  • 2 cups celery chopped
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 cup rice uncooked
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 bag chow mein noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°

  2. Layer all ingredients (except noodles) in a 9x13 pan.

  3. Cover pan and bake for 1 hour.

  4. Add chow mein noodles and bake uncovered an additional 15 minutes.
