Poem for Aunt Mary

Although I love my grandmother
and thought she was divine
as a little child I did get bored
with milk and rhubarb wine

The frigidaire was crowded
with every pickled fruit
and yet her choice of beverages
still needed quite the boot

Along came sweet Aunt Mary
with kids and cards in tow
She brought her Coca-Cola
and a whole new world we’d know

We’d drink the Coke with popcorn
We’d drink the Coke with pie
and it kinda went with coffee cake
okay…well….at least better than rhubarb wine

And so we’d love sweet Mary
with her we’d never thirst
but if it’s you and Mare and the frigidaire
You’d better get there first!
