Frosted Sugar Cookies
This is Mary Laumeyer-Wynn's recipe. She made these on Valentine's Day one year we were up there at the farm at about that time, and I remember having great fun helping her decorate them. I love this recipe, and it has been a family favorite for many years.
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
Frosting (beat until smooth):
- 1 1/4 tbsp butter
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°

Cream together butter and sugar.

Add eggs and vanilla.

Add dry ingredients and mix well.

Chill for 1 hour.

Roll dough 1/8" thick onto lightly floured board.

Cut with cookie cutters.

Bake until light and dry, about 10 minutes.

Frost when cool.
