Saucepan Brownies

This is a favorite as I always seem to have the ingredients on hand, and makes the most amazing, soft and chewy brownies.


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  1. Heat oven to 350°

  2. Grease and flour bottom of a square baking dish.

  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly.

  4. Remove from heat, cool slightly.

  5. Stir in sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

  6. Stir in remaining ingredients.

  7. Spread in pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes (just until set.)
