Seafood Chowder

Seafood Chowder

I created this recipe after watching the "Seinfeld" episode about the Soup Nazi. Priding myself on being the creator of many delicious recipes, I wanted to develop a soup recipe that made people utter, "oh, I gotta sit down." This one comes as close as I may ever get! It's real, and it's spectacular!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup bacon drippings
  • 1 stalk celery finely chopped
  • ½ yellow onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ½ gallon whole milk
  • ½ lb cod boiled
  • ½ lb scallops broiled
  • ¼ lb crabmeat cooked
  • 1 can chopped clams
  • 5 medium potatoes diced and cooked
  • 1 cup corn
  • 1 can beer
  • 2 tbsp pickle juice
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp dillweed
  • 1 tsp red pepper
  • dash nutmeg
  • dash season salt
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Saute celery, onion, and garlic in bacon drippings until onion becomes clearer.
  2. Stir in flour, cooking over medium heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Add 1 cup of the milk, stirring til mixture boils and is free of lumps.
  4. Add the remaining milk at medium-high heat. Stir til it simmers.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low, and add remaining ingredients.
  6. Add seasonings to taste, reduce heat to low.
  7. Yummy with sourdough bread!
